  3. Extenuating Circumstances Panels & Academic Conduct Panels Faculty-based panels, decisions noted at SAB EC Panels consider all EC claims and make decisions AC Panels consider all cheating allegations and make decisions

Subject Assessment Board - constitution Membership is usually: Chair: Subject Group Leader (different discipline); Head of Department; Quality co-ordinator; LTA Co-ordinator; other Principal Lecturer Module Leaders Subject External Examiner Faculty Head of Quality or Departmental Quality Co-ordinator Secretary (Representative of Registry Services) Ex-officio members

Subject Assessment Board - role Confirm module taught in accordance with approved module descriptor Agree students' marks and moderate marks sets Confirm overall module results, To receive EE comments with regard to actions and good practice in relation to assessment and moderation of the module Receive decisions from EC Panels and AC Panels

  6. Subject External Examiner Role at SAB To ensure fairness in assessment processes To ensure that the SAB operates in accordance with the assessment regulations To verify that external moderation has taken place To briefly identify issues, actions and good practice in relation to assessment and moderation of the module/s Agree arrangements for resit assessment processing / EE engagement

Subject Assessment Board - constitution for collaborative courses • Location of SABs (for some collaborative provision) is under discussion to facilitate improvement of student assessment data • Chair must be from SHU • Chair could be Faculty Collaborative Co-ordinator • Link tutor is an ex-officio member

  8. Post SAB Pre-board to prepare for ratification of student profiles via FPABs Check individual students' mark/result profiles Identify any exceptional matters/queries to resolve Regulations are rules based: no discretion to change marks agreed by Subject Assessment Board

Faculty Progression and Award Boards Formally ratify decisions on students' progression and awards Chaired by Dean/ProVice Chancellor on behalf of University Academic Board Approve any exceptional progression decisions (due to professional, statutory or regulatory body requirements) Review decisions made on students, if appeals are referred back for review by the relevant decision making body (Subject Assessment Board, Extenuating Circumstances Panel or Academic Conduct Panel
