  2. General Information • Project Based • Self-directed • Due dates for projects noted on Calendar page. • You are required to use technology skills for every project you complete. • Please do not turn in anything that is handwritten or hand drawn!

  3. Projects • WORD—Letter, Handout, and Mail Merge • PowerPoint—Slideshow • Inspiration—Concept Map • EXCEL—Spreadsheet • PAINT—Life Cycle, then input into PowerPoint, save as jpgs, then import into PhotoStory • Web pages—Design an original WebQuest • Portfolio—Lesson plans using software; reflections • Unit Plan—Graduate students only • Weekly assignments

Information about Projects • Available online via Dr. K-L’s web pages: • http://woodard.latech.edu/~kklopez/EDCI%20445/EDCI%20445%20Home.htm • Select Activities-click on each project to view detailed information as well as the rubric that will be used for evaluation. • The Calendar link provides you with due dates as well as links to activities.

  5. Equipment and Software • Equipment • You will need access to a computer that runs Windows XP, Vista, or 7, or a computer running Mac OS IX or higher. • You will need an internal microphone on your laptop or computer. If you do not have an internal microphone, then you can buy one for around $10.00 at Radio Shack. • Software—You will need to have access to the software listed below in order to complete the assignments: • WinZip • Microsoft Office 2007 or higher-WORD, PowerPoint, Excel (available in labs on campus if you do not have access on your computer) • Inspiration--download trial version • Microsoft Paint (or other equivalent paint program-usually already on Windows computers) • KompoZer (or other web editor) or Microsoft Expression Web • Audacity (Windows or Mac OS) or GarageBand (Mac OS) • PhotoStory (for Windows XP-usually already installed on Windows computers) or iMovie (Mac OS)

  6. Recommended Supplies • Thumb drive, flash drive, jump drive, etc. • Available at the Tech Book Store • Also found at Wal-Mart, Office Depot, or Radio Shack.

  7. Turning in Projects • Projects will be turned in through Assignments Folders via Moodle (or by email if noted by directions). • Due dates are noted on the Calendar page.

  8. Attendance • This is a self-directed class. • The class is also self-paced in that you can immediately move on to new projects once you have finished projects that are due. • Projects are due on the date noted on the calendar page for EDCI 445. • If you finish all of the projects, then you are done with the class. However, it is your responsibility to check that assignments have been done correctly. You should check your email regularly during the month of July and first week of August to be sure there are not an issues with your work. • If you need assistance with projects, then you need to email a request to meet with the instructor: kklopez@latech.edu. You should provide advance notice if you need this assistance.

  9. TaskStream • Beginning Fall Quarter 2007, course major assignments, or signature pieces, will be evaluated via the TaskStream web-based toolset and assessment system. All educator preparation programs, both undergraduate and graduate, must individually subscribe to TaskStream.  You will be required to submit course signature pieces via TaskStream, and receive assignment feedback and grades via TaskStream. Failure to subscribe to and use the TaskStream assessment system, as directed, will result in an F grade (0%) in the designated course assignments. • TaskStream subscription and operating information is available online at:   https://www.taskstream.com/pub/.

What do you submit to TaskStream? • WORD project—letter, mail merge, handout • PowerPoint project—Slideshow • Inspiration Project—Concept Map • EXCEL Project—Spreadsheet • PhotoStory project (includes Paint images) • WebQuest project—similar to a unit • Portfolio project—word-processed document containing reflections, standards, links, etc. about each software reviewed during course • Unit Plan—Graduate students only
