  1. No-MCS Recommendation in MFB Date: 2011-01-05 Authors: Nir Shapira, Celeno Communications

  2. Abstract • We propose to add a No-MCS recommendation to the MFB field in VHTC Nir Shapira, Celeno Communications

  3. No-MCS Feedback • In some cases of unexpected high inter stream interference, no MCS can be supported (not even MCS0) • Current MFB does not support No-MCS feedback • This can serve as an opt-out mechanism for a beamformee that cannot cancel interference for a certain MU group • No-MCS feedback can use a dedicated TBD MFB value Nir Shapira, Celeno Communications

  4. No-MCS Feedback – cont’ • No-MCS feedback is easier to interpret compared to an SNR feedback. Beamformer can react immediately • Possible event flow: DL MIMO D1 DL MIMO D1 BAR BAR D2 D2 AP D3 AP reacts immediately STA3 dropped (Nss=0) BA STA1 BA STA2 BA+ No-MCS • More power for STA1/2 • Less interference STA3 • Slow reacting scheduler SW can analyze situation in background • Might want to redefine group or re-sound STA3 Nir Shapira, Celeno Communications

  5. Pre Motion Do you agree for a No-MCS recommendation, to signal the case where no MCS can be supported, and be assigned an unused MCS index in the MFB field Nir Shapira, Celeno Communications
