  1. Using Scenario Data Repository for game analysis Col. Grzegorz KOTT, PhD

  2. As a remainder… Scenario Data Repository (SDR) is Oracle database (Oracle repository) to store game data while game is being executed. SDR obtains information via client programs: Scenario Data Client (SDC), After Action Review Client (AARC). SDR, as well as Oracle database, supports open standards and data can be accessed by third-party applications, such as reporting tools. SDR

  3. SDR - the possibility of utilization The analysis of the effects of the simulation requires: SDR enables: = Collecting information about events (AARC). Collecting information about events. Accumulating information about the status of simulated objects.  Tracking the status of simulated objects (SDC). Automatic accumulating of information about events and current game state.  Automatic accumulating of historical information.

  4. At regular time intervals, automatically, copies to local Data Warehouse: information about events, information about current state of simulated objects (units, targets, combat systems, supply categories), information of simulation state (operational time, game speed etc). SDR Data Warehouse We built a Data Warehouse

  5. The Data Warehouse Definition of data collecting time interval Information about current simulation state Definition of the scope of collected data Collect ON/OFF switch Information about the last time check and data dump and when we have relevant data …

  6. … we can select objects for analysis Selecting sub tree from command structure Selection machine Selection effect with qualify tool Possibility of: SAVE, USE SAVING or ERASE selection Unit type filter Tool for selecting units from selected area (polygon or half-plane) Line defined polygon or area Decision about selection inside/ outside polygon or side of line

  7. We use selection machine when we must: select the set of units at variance with command structure (e.g. Task Forces, Operational Group), this selection is constant in time (or slowly changeable). About selection machine The Task Force RED_3 consist of 23DB.PD, 24DB.PD except 241BB.PD – (all with subordinates) In selection machine we can use predefined selection.

  8. Data Warehouse Further possibilities + Selection Tool Overall analysis Detailed analysis

  9. Detailed analysis (e.g. for Air Force) Confirmation or change of units selection Export to Excel Using predefined selection • Select kind of report: • Air mission, • Air mission detailed, • Aerial combat, • Shoot down, • Air mission effect, • Inflicted losses Definition of analysis time period

  10. Overall analysis Confirmation predefined selection, check on proper data set existence and export analyses effect to Microsoft Excel file. Mission’s centers of gravity Comparison charts Current situation Current CS state Forecasted situation Current SC state The main sheet and it contents.

  11. Suitable tools … … form the basis for everything!
