  1. On a computer running XP, start the remote Session like this

  2. You get this box. This also works on W98 or W2000 if you have installed the Remote Desktop Session program. Type this address in exactly as you see it here….. ….then select Options

  3. -To speed things up you can try different settings. However, 16-bit colour works OK.

  4. Then choose your own speed

  5. This will enable you to cut and paste files to and from College -but printing in college is not allowed for students

  6. NB: drag and drop does not work for files because different windows are on different machines.

  7. Now select ‘Connect’

  8. You must use your own new username and password. Mr Mistry holds a list of these and so does the Office. Email for your password if you need it: dee@wvcc.leics.sch.uk

  9. When you are logged on in full-screen mode, a pull-down tab at the top of the screen gives you control over the window- you can get back to your local machine underneath by minimising the window. (Don’t choose the X, this will disconnect you)

  10. When you have finished, you should log off using the START menu at the bottom of the screen. Remember this is logging off in the College, not at home! INFORMATION: A remote session left for more than one hour will automatically log off after one hour, losing all work. So save it before you go for a bath! A remote session closed down but not logged off will automatically log off after five minutes.
