COELACANTH • Date from apprx 410 mya • Of the original 120 species, only one survived the event that killed the dinosaurs 65 million years ago. • This species was small; ate cuttlefish, squids, snipe eels, small sharks, and other fish; and was dark blue, much like the color of its ocean habitat.
