  2. WHAT IS EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION? • Inclusive • Concise • Thorough (hits all points) • Professional • Produces desired or intended results

  3. Why is effective communication through technology so important?

  4. WHY? • There are many different types of communication through technology. • It is important to choose an appropriate medium of communication that can cover the points stated previously.

  5. BEE-ING INCLUSIVE VS. EXCLUSIVE • It is always important to be inclusive with forms of communication through technology.

  6. Which of the following are inclusive forms of communication? E-mail Social Media Home and Cell Phone Calls Reflector Groups Texting

  7. E-MAIL ETIQUETTE • Salutations: Address the person to whom you are exchanging correspondence with- this is just common courtesy. • State your business: Include in all of your emails your reason for contacting someone as well as explain what any and all attachments are. Remember to do this in a professional manner.

  8. DO NOT: Use slang words: Type like the leader you are. We are professionals. Type like this: "yOhOmIez!!! WH3R3Z U A7!?!?!!?!?!? G1mm3 datrostaaa" Type in a way that ensures people will understand you. Be invective: No matter what, be kind, respectful, and considerate.

  9. E-MAIL ETIQUETTE • Highlights: Highlight important information for emphasis; it is recommended to do this especially in lengthy but informative emails. • Goodbye: State your farewells and wish them a good day! It's also a good idea to include information on when you'd like a response back, but in a subtle way.

  10. Examples: If a response is needed in the next 4 weeks or more: "Thank you again for your time and I look forward to working with you in the future." If a response is needed in the next 2-3 weeks: "I look forward to your timely response." If a response is needed in the next 5-7 days: "Please get back to me sometime this week."

  11. GO FOR THE GOLD QUESTIONS, COMMENTS, CONCERNS?
