Introduction • Vision: A dynamic world-class ICT Centre powering creativity and innovation in the University • Mandate - The Centre serves entire University fraternity including both staff and students • Motto: ICT is a lifestyle for all • Revolution in how we live, learn and conduct business - internet, email and social media (FB, Twitter, blog sites) • Have to be technology savvy and not an option

Our Services • Network Infrastructure and Communication • Internet, Email and Information Security • User Support - connectivity in labs, problems of access, OICs available for support • Maintenance - Service and repair of IT equipment • MIS - support university admin functions, Website, Online room booking, SMIS • Training & Consultancy

  5. Student Services • SMIS portal - UoN Home page. URL. Allows students to register for courses, Check Fee Statements, Timetables, Examination Results, Room booking, make enquiries, request for student ID, course registration • Email - Login to UoN website, click on student email link, give reg no and ID no and will be given your email address and password which you will need to change on first use • UoN Wi-Fi account; e-learning system(wiki, learning.uonbi.ac.ke) • Policy - familiarize with ICT policy on use of our services which is available on ICT website: http://ict.uonbi.ac.ke

ICT Policy • Password: do not share your password with anyone as you take responsibility for use or misuse of the password • No pornography, access to unauthorized sites, minimize download of unnecessary video • Hacking is strictly prohibited • Be responsible on use of ICT services • Hotspots– connected main campus, CHS, CBPS, CEES, KSC, SoB

Promotions • Available especially for Computer Science and Engineering students • Take advantage of Microsoft, Google and other vendors who are sponsoring competitions, exchange programmes and exhibitions. • For example the Google Ambassador programme and Microsoft campus competition projects that are very popular in the region
