  2. The distillation technique involves in breaking of azeotropes. In chemical engineering, azeotropes are separated using basic technique: • With the help of entrainer • Without entrainer The Separation of azeotrope involves a separate distillation technique because an azeotrope cannot be separated using simple distillation process. It is because heating the azeotropic mixture leads to the same composition of the components as present in the original mixture.

Need for distillation method • For efficient and accurate recovery of organic solvent in industry. • Liquid mixture of organic solvent easily forms azeotropes. • Produces high purity products. • Presence of azeotrope makes separation impossible by normal distillation. • Addition of entrainer facilitates the azeotropic separation.

  4. Formation azeotrope accomplished by the mixing of organic solvent under non-ideal condition. • Binary azeotropes cannot be separated using simple distillation technique. • It accomplished by the addition of entrainer in the solution that leads to the formation of ternary azeotrope.
