  1. Clumsiness. Why are we uncoordinated? Jaimie Lawrence

  2. MISSION STATEMENT Understand what causes clumsiness and how co-ordination effects how clumsy you are.

  3. Co-ordination • Without it, you’ll die! • Eyes scope it out • Brain & nerves send a message • Muscles do the work!

  4. That makes me clumsy? • Clumsiness happens when one or more of the bodies ‘co-ordinates’ can’t work together. • The un-coordination of your muscles may cause them to react a moment too late when you drop a glass. • Your eyes may misjudge distance or depth causing you to step somewhere you didn’t intend to.

  5. What could cause it? • Poor vision • Fatigue and stress • Head injury or stroke • Arthritis • Medications • Alcohol or drug use • Illness • Medication

  6. Is there concern? • Everyone is a klutz sometimes… • Mostly fatigue or stress • Could be a symptom of a stroke • If you are worried, call your doctor.

  7. Conclusion Everyone has klutz days! Maybe you just need a nap, or a stress reliever. If you have any serious concern about excess clumsiness ask your doctor!
