Librarians love to work with faculty • Liaisons, the first point of contact for all library matters, are assigned to all departments • Liaisons acquire materials for you, provide reference and research consultations, arrange library instruction for your classes, and more • The specialized libraries in the colleges and schools provide personalized services for their faculty http://www.lib.fsu.edu

  12. 2. Easy access to information is our goal • FSU has over 3 million volumes and offers hundreds of databases, over 78,000 e-journals, and millions of e-books • Augmented by interlibrary loan services including RAPID-ILL and http://www.lib.fsu.edu

We deliver! • Library Express Delivery (LED): By request, books are delivered twice daily to your department; articles are scanned and e-mailed (http://www.lib.fsu.edu/services/materials/feds) • Items received through interlibrary loan and UBorrow are included in delivery • This service is also available to Teaching Assistants http://www.lib.fsu.edu

Specialized facilities for faculty • The Scholars Commons (Strozier Library’s lower level) is designed for serious scholarship • Staff oriented to faculty and grad student needs • Includes quiet study areas, collaborative spaces, research-oriented technology tools, and more • A spacious reading room reserved for faculty and grad students • Rooms available to faculty for special events and meetings http://www.lib.fsu.edu

  15. 5. Our welcome gift to you • New Faculty Collection Grants: New tenure-track faculty receive $1000 credit towards library resources they need for their teaching and research • Requests due January 6, 2014 http://www.lib.fsu.edu

  16. 6. All faculty can apply for research materials grants • All faculty may apply for research materials grants, through which the library purchases books and other materials needed for your research • Proposals are due late October 2013 http://www.lib.fsu.edu

  17. 7. Special Collections and Archives houses original research materials Two locations: • The Strozier Special Collections Center • The Pepper Library, a political archive Over 800,000 rare or unique items http://www.lib.fsu.edu
