  3. Today’s Objectives SWBAT identify and apply the procedures needed to test the design features of a prototype. Objective: (SPI 0607.T/E.2)Evaluate a protocol to determine if the engineering design process was successfully applied.

  4. What’s Up Today? Importance: We live in a world of ever changing technology?? Society benefits when engineers apply scientific discoveries to better the designs that are created.

  5. How many of you want to engineers or designers, or teachers?? Write down what you want to be!!

  6. Vocabulary Engineer: people who design and build new forms of technology. Engineers use science to make the world around them better.

  28. Procedures for Planning Your Prototype • Always research and brainstorm before you design your prototype. Take into consideration things that you have seen work in the past for similar prototypes. • Think about possible design constraints • Money • Time • Space • Availability of parts

  29. Procedures for Evaluating Your Prototype • Make sure you thoroughly examine your prototype after you test it to ensure that it meets your criteria and expectations • Does the design work as planned? • Does the design effectively solve the original problem? • How can the design be improved?

  48. Bioengineered Products Bioengineered products are created from the use of technology (they are not natural but rather man made) to alter or improve living things

  49. Assistive Bioengineered Products Assistive– technology that helps!!! Helps living organisms but does not change them permanently These products assist people, but they are not permanent Assistive products are created specifically for disabled people
