  2. Oklahoma Alcoholic Beverage Laws Enforcement Commission • Constitutionally Created L.E. Agency • Enforce, License & Regulate the Alcoholic Beverage & Charitable Gaming Statutes • Enforce specific Tobacco Statutes

  3. The Goal of this Training is … Provide concepts and principles for you to consider and provide updates on what is happening elsewhere on this issue Take an idea, build on it, make it work in your community

  6. GOAL Reduce Number of Drivers that are Driving Intoxicated on Oklahoma Roadways

  7. Assessment Where are people getting the alcohol? Are they being over served? If so, where? Are minors getting alcohol? If so, where?

  8. Assessment Are we enforcing the alcohol laws we have? • Criminal • Administrative Why are people driving after they are under the influence?

  9. Capacity Building / Community Mobilization Who needs to be at the table to accomplish this? • Law Enforcement • Retailers • Prosecutors • General Public • ABLE Commission • Prevention Professionals • Media

  10. Strategic Planning Where are people getting alcohol? • Limit Access • Compliance Checks • Bar Checks • Educating Retailers • House Parties

  14. Strategic Planning Why are people driving after they are under the influence? • Not aware of other options • No other options available • Don’t want to leave your vehicle • They have done it before and have never been caught • Don’t realize how intoxicated they are

  15. Cultural Competence Do you have a unique problem to your area? Does that change who needs to be part of your community mobilization? Have a plan for this!!!

  16. Sustainability Can this program continue to operate on it’s own? Why or why not? • Money • Manpower • Lack of Buy-In How do we get buy-in?
