  1. Welcome to the Danville Area Community College Library This is Maui. He is the library’s tiki and will be your guide!

  2. Library Entrance: Clock Tower Follow me into the library!

  3. The Reference Collection I wonder if there are any books on Polynesian art? Start your research here!

  4. Reference Desk Get help with your research at the reference desk. Ask questions about your coursework, the college, or just things that interest you! Our librarians are always glad to help! Where could I find the best collections of Polynesian art?

  5. Go Through the Tunnel • Go through the tunnel to: • the computer lab • the periodicals section • the video collection • or the archives display The bathrooms are on the right. Always good to know!

  6. Periodical Browsing Room I like the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue … so many beach scenes! The library gets about 140 newspapers, magazines, trade publications and scholarly journals in print. It provides access to more than 24,000 online.

  7. The Video Collection The video collection contains approximately 2,000 videos, including several popular films. Any that aren’t on reserve can be checked out. I wonder if they have South Pacific?

  8. The Computer Lab Do you think I should get a Facebook account? The library has 2 computer labs for student use, plus 2 quick print computers and 2 others for users needing help or looking for books in the online catalog. One lab also serves as a classroom to teach research skills .

  9. The Archives The picture is of the College’s founder, Mary Miller. The College Archives include documents and memorabilia that record the College’s history. They say she gave the staff 1 pencil at a time. Wonder if that included an eraser…

  10. The Stacks Downstairs is the book collection – 3 rooms of material, study areas, and a computer lab. The library has more than 35,000 items in its collection. I like the quiet study area in the back.

  11. Back Issue Magazines We keep past issues of periodicals for varying lengths of time. Some for just a couple of years, others 10, some back to the beginning of our subscription. We even have a few print journals from the 1800s! I like National Geographic, but sometimesmakes me homesick…

  12. Microfilm Back Issues The library has a lot of issues of newspapers and magazines on microfilm, including Time and Newsweek going back to their first issues. I always get help with the machines. I’m not very “handy”

  13. Children’s Collection DACC’s library even has a children’s collection of picture books. My favorite stories are folktales, especially ones about me!

  14. Technical Services Everyone on the library staff is friendly and glad to answer your questions. The technical services staff works to prepare materials to put out on the shelves.

  15. SHHH! Quiet Study Area Plenty of tables and individual study carrels provide lots of study options. I like to sit here and read

  16. Circulation Desk Check out your items at the Circulation Desk on the main floor before you leave. Even if they look busy, library employees are always glad to help!

  17. Hallway Displays Make sure you don’t miss the displays on the way out. Here some student art work is being shown. I didn’t know Van Gogh went here.

  18. Thanks for visiting! I hope you enjoyed your tour. Please come and see us in person sometime!
