Naadam is the festival of the three “manly sports” in Mongolia. It is held every July 11th to 13th. These sports are wrestling, 《 》, and horse racing, but the last two are also open to women. In fact the horse race is a wild, 30-kilometer gallop through the open grassland to the 《 》, Ulan Bator, and even little girls take 《 》.

Horses are a way of life to many Mongolians. They provide transportation, food, and drink ( from dried milk to meat ) and 《 》 ( dried manure ). So the Naadam horse races draw participants from all over the country. Some travel for weeks to get to the main competition. Winning at Naadam means a year of 《 》 and glory.
