  1. Using the Elmo TT-02s After School Workshop Mid-Carolina Middle School March 29, 2010 3:30-5:00

  2. What is an Elmo? • An Elmo is a document camera. It is called an Elmo because the Elmo Company has proprietary rights. • The Smart Document Camera and AverMedia Document Cameras are also known by their proprietary information. • Be sure you know that all document cameras are just that…document cameras. Only the proprietary name changes, but not the function.

  3. Where do I begin? E:\E2T2\Documentation\PD\PD Folder\Tech classes\Elmos at MCMS\Connecting an Elmo.pdf • Step 1: Purchase or Locate an Elmo • Step 2: install the Image Mate Presentation Software on your computer • Step 3: Connect the Elmo (Elmo is clearly labeled) • You may have to purchase a USB cord to connect both a projector and the Elmo to your computer Connection Options • 1 VGA cable from Elmo to Computer – 1 VGA cable from Elmo to projector (standalone version) • 1 USB cable from Elmo to Computer – 1 VGA cable from computer to projector (Best option) • 1 VGA cable from Elmo to Projector (only to display)

  4. Tips • What if my projector and laptop computer aren’t communicating? Most laptops have to be “told” a projector is connected. This is usually holding the Function (Fn) key and F4/F8 (dependent on model) • You may have to toggle between the camera/PC button on the Elmo. • If there is any issue, always check connections first. 

  5. Control Panel of an Elmo Power Menu Arrows Capture SD slideshow PC/Camera Toggle Brightness SD card slot More Elmo Tips: E:\E2T2\Documentation\PD\PD Folder\Tech classes\Elmos at MCMS\Elmotips.pdf

  6. Locating Items on the Control Panel • Come and see if you can locate all of the items on the Control Panel. 

  7. How can I use my Elmo? • The Elmo can be used as a standalone document camera, or in conjunction with other programs such as the Notebook Software. • The Elmo also accepts an SD memory card for saving “snapshots” of work. This function is similar to that of a scanner, but the screen captures can be used in slideshow format.
