  2. What It Looks Like • There are two kinds of wolves. • There is a gray wolf. • There is a red wolf.

  3. Where It Lives • Most North American gray wolves live in Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Washington, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan. • Wolves live in packs of 2 to 20 other wolves. • Wolf pups live in the pack and play with other pups.

  4. What It Eats • Wolves smell their prey. • They eat moose and other things they can smell and find. • They sometimes hunt in packs.

  5. What Are Other Behaviors • Wolves show their teeth to warn enemies to go away. • In winter they hunt day and night. • Wolves eat weak, young, or unhealthy animals.

  6. Interesting Facts • Wolves talk by howling. • One wolf always takes over and other wolves give him his way. • They raise their babies in a den.
