Academies • England's new academy schools can now hire unqualified teachers, after a change to the rules. • Government officials say this means academies will be free to hire "great linguists, computer scientists and other specialists who have not worked in state schools before" http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-19017544 27th July 2012

  4. Graduate Teacher Training (GTTR) Some schools advertise Graduate Teacher Training Positions • These can be in registered teaching schools or groups of teaching schools • Individual schools advertise roles as an unqualified salaried position

  5. Schools Direct Schools Direct is a Brand 2 Types of Schools Direct • Qualified Route (PGCE supported) Partnership with University • Teaching Partnership with other schools (Non PGCE Route) Final Qualification should be checked at interview

  6. Troops Into Teachers TeachFirst is a brand name supporting British Troops with a desire to enter the teaching profession This is a PGCE route into teaching for graduates or can be as part of a graduate qualification, determined by entry qualifications of entrant

Undergraduate Route • At the moment there are limited opportunities for prospective post A level candidates to directly enter the teaching profession in Computer Science in Education. • If this is a route you would like to take, you need to pursue a degree in a computer science related discipline providing programming opportunities.
