  2. Purpose • Text book that covers economics, social security, drug legalization, welfare, among other things. • Contains problems with the economy and possible solutions. • Used in curriculum at some colleges. • Lists positives and negatives to possible economic solutions.

  3. Financial opportunity • “taxpayers bear the burden of the criminal justice system.” • “We could tax the producers of the formerly illegal substances, generating many tax dollars for the government.”

  4. Other benefits • Crime rates decrease • “we could regulate quality and institute needle exchange programs in good conscience.” • Safer drugs

  5. Lists negative consequences • Personal health consequences of drugs • Expected increase in drug-related social problems if drugs are legal • Drugs usage trend would increase, as in the 70s.
