Expectancy Theory • Expectancy Theory involves establishing three basic beliefs: • The individual must believe that he or she can perform the required tasks. • The individual must believe that performing the tasks specified will lead to the intended results of the task. • The individual must believe that, as a result of successfully achieving the desired outcomes, the individual will achieve the reward that the individual desires.
