In Addition to New Courses, DAU Faces aPotential “Perfect Storm” of Demand • Air Force Life Cycle Logistics Workforce Reinvigoration team chartered in May 08 to “reconstitute the(ir) atrophied Life Cycle Logistics workforce.” • Potential for up to 1,500 new USAF Life Cycle Logistics DAWIA coded positions. • DLA plans to code 2,400 Life Cycle Logistics positions in next 12-24 months • May be higher when military positions are included • USTRANSCOM distribution and transportation personnel seeking DAU courses as a result of USTRANSCOM Commander May 08 visit to DAU • USTRANSCOM/CC, DLA Director, and DAU President-level MOU in Development • DoD Logistics Human Capital Strategy outlines requirement for “Enterprise Logistician” with cross-workforce category expertise • Potentially thousands of personnel in non-DAWIA coded positions from the other three logistics workforce categories (Supply Mgt, Maintenance Support, Distribution/ Transportation) seeking DAU training • increasing industry demand due to seeking qualifications similar to DoD counterparts • 2,493 industry graduates in FY07, a 1,341% increase since FY01, with upward trend continuing • Potential increases from students seeking training as a result of Core Plus • Difficult to quantify, but potentially significant Near-Term Potential for 30-35% increase in DAWIA-coded Life Cycle Logistics positions, plus other demands
