  1. Enrollment Tips • Advanced Enroll Dialog • Using the Dialog • Enrollment Technique: Lock Drop & Hold • Suggested Finger and Finger Placement • Fingerprint Core • Finger Position, Rotation and Pressure • Finger Condition: Wet or Dry • Quality and Content • Improving the Image Quality • Security Levels • Bioscrypt Technical Support • ESC - Quit or Exit

  2. Advanced Enroll Dialog The Advanced Enroll dialog offers a more thorough enrollment from any Veri-Series reader, allowing comparisons of up to three different enrollments. Begin by entering a template ID number or press the From Reader button (to read an ID from an external Wiegand reader) and click on one of the Enroll buttons. See the Enrollment Technique section for proper enrollment tips. To EXIT press ESC

  3. Using the Dialog Finger Selection Place Finger Instructions appear here Template ID and index Raw Fingerprint Image Not Recommended to Accept Template Image To Accept the Enrollment To Enroll Quality and Content Feedback Dialog Instructions To Exit To EXIT press ESC

  4. Enrollment Technique: Lock Drop & Hold Ridge-Lock • When the message “Place your finger on sensor” is on, slide the finger across the Ridge-Lock without the finger touching the sensor • Position the finger where the first joint of the finger meets the Ridge-Lock. • Drop the finger onto the sensor using moderate pressure. • Hold the finger on the sensor until the image appears in the view window. To EXIT press ESC

  5. Suggested Finger and Finger Placement Suggested Fingers:Index, middle or ringfingers. Avoid using thumband pinky fingers since they are typically awkward to position consistently on the sensor. Finger Placement:Completely covering the entire area of the sensor with the fingerprint will provide the best performance. Touching the sensor as if pressing a button creates an image that lacks information-rich fingerprint data. To EXIT press ESC

  6. Fingerprint Core A fingerprint core is a point located within theinner most recurving ridge Normally it is located in themiddleof thefingerprint Most frequent types of core: • Arches(plain and tented) • Loops(singular and twinned) • Whorl and Central Pocket Loop When enrolling, place the finger on the sensor where the entire core can clearly be seen in theFingerprint Image window. Do not enroll thumbs unless it is too difficult to capture a good image from one of the suggested fingers. To EXIT press ESC

  7. Finger Position, Rotation and Pressure Position Placing your finger far from the center position of the sensor will increase the rejection rate. RotationFinger rotation should be kept minimal during enrollment and verification. PressureApply moderate pressure when making contact with the sensor. Too much pressure may cause smudging of the fingerprint. Too little pressure may not allow the sensor to recognize the presence of a finger. To EXIT press ESC

  8. Finger Conditions: Wet or Dry • Wipe it with a piece of cloth or paper towel Image of Very wet finger • Users can increase the finger pressure • or use small amount of skin-moisturizing lotion. Image of Very dry finger Image of Normal finger To EXIT press ESC

  9. Quality and Content Quality: Quality is a measure of how well the ridge pattern is defined in the captured fingerprint image. Images that are dry or lack sufficient pressure tend have less than three stars. Content: Content is a measure of how much of the fingerprint core or information-rich region the sensor has captured from the user. Quality: Bad quality enrollment. Ridges are not well-defined. Enroller should use an alternate finger for better imagery. Content: The core is properly centered, but is not well-defined. Enroller should again use an alternate finger. Quality: Good quality enrollment. Content: Core is properly centered; surface area and ridge pattern are well-defined. Quality: Good quality enrollment. Content: Core is not properly centered. User should reposition finger by properly using Ridge-Lock. Quality: User should apply more pressure to help better image the fingerprint surface area. Content: Core is properly centered. To EXIT press ESC

  10. Improving the Image Quality How to Improve the Image Quality • Cleanthesensorand the finger • Keepthefingeron the sensor for several seconds prior to the enrollment • Changethefinger Remember, the software serves you as a guide, not a judge. To EXIT press ESC

  11. Security Levels • False Rejection Rate (FRR) - probability of valid user rejection • False Acceptance Rate (FAR) - probability of invalid user acceptance Two type of security settings: 1. For each template 2. For each unit The system will use the lowest of the two thresholds To EXIT press ESC
