Learn some basic knowledge about Alibaba • What is Alibaba.com? • Alibaba.com is the world's largest marketplace for global trade and the leading provider of online marketing services for importers and exporters. It is the leading B2B e-commerce platform with two marketplaces of international marketplace (www.alibaba.com) focusing on global importers and exporters and China marketplace (www.alibaba.com.cn) focusing on suppliers and buyers trading domestically in China. It is the place for buyers and sellers to find trade opportunities and promote their businesses online. Alibaba.com is not a trading company but rather an online business platform, where you can search or post information to find potential business partners. TradeManager and Alipay are two online tools created by Alibaba for online business chatting and online payment respectively.

Key Roles and Processes at Alibaba.com • (1) A seller (or exporter) posts his company information and product photos (together with descriptions, specifications, shipping terms, etc.) on Alibaba. • (2) Buyers (or importers) search and browse the seller's products and then make inquiries to negotiate or place orders.

With a free membership you can use our sourcing tools, send inquiries to suppliers, and post your Buying Leads, all free of charge. TradeManager is allowed to use by free members. Download and try at once. • For Sellers Free members may also post products to sell, search for buyers and contact certain buyers who accept quotations from free members. • TrustPass • A TrustPass member is required to complete an authentication and verification procedure conducted by a third-party credit reporting agency. A TrustPass member is entitled to display a icon to demonstrate credibility to buyers online. • Gold Supplier • Gold Supplier is a premium membership for export-oriented suppliers. It provides extensive additional promotion advantages and benefits, both online and offline. All Gold Suppliers have satisfied the necessary requirements for this highest level of membership. They are also required to undergo rigorous authentication and verification procedures by third-party credit reporting agencies. A Gold Supplier is authorized to display a icon together with a icon to demonstrate credibility to buyers online..

  10. Posting Selling Leads and Products • Posting your product images, specifications and descriptions on Alibaba.com increases your exposure to buyers. On Alibaba.com, a member can post multiple products. Selling Lead means a Trade Lead posted by a seller. It can contain product information, availability, timelines and so forth.
