  2. Vision Transform the region’s workforce to meet the STEM needs of 21st Century industries, such as defense, homeland security, military preparedness, health care, construction, social services, and information technologies.

  3. Initial Actions • Established the All American Center for Workforce Innovation at FTCC • Provided portable i3D systems for 7 community colleges • Funded 11 portable i3D systems - for one pilot high school in each county (Golden LEAF grant) • Installing 11 fixed i3D enhanced technology classrooms in all eleven counties (NC DOC ARRA stimulus grant)

Distributed Learning Network • Developing a distributed learning network to connect the educational continuum • Connects the enhanced technology classrooms • Developing innovative i3D content for the classroom • Utilize Subject Matter Experts and master instructors for better learning • Ensures that industry validated knowledge, skills and abilities are integrated into curriculum

Community Collaborative Initiative • Our region selected as one of three “Ready to Launch” communities in the State of North Carolina • Receiving coaching and technical support from: • MCNC • NC STEM Community Collaborative • Teaching Institute for Excellence in STEM (TIES) • Currently preparing an innovative education plan (proposal) to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for submission in Dec 09

  10. Goal Statement 1 Our future is tied to better preparing all students with skills to be successful in a STEM centered global economy.  We must grow a culture of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematical in the Fort Bragg region.

  11. Goal Statement 2 Students will understand STEM concepts better, more quickly, and with longer retention if we engage them in a motivational instructional environment – yielding fewer dropouts, more graduates.

  12. Goal Statement 3 Increasing collaborative business/education partnerships to enhance curriculum will provide real world applications and values necessary to ensure our students graduate prepared to succeed.

  13. Goal Statement 4 We can utilize technology to personalize instruction that engages, motivates, and accelerates students, particularly traditionally underserved students, creating and connecting state of the art, cutting edge STEM learning opportunities anytime, anywhere.
