  2. To access the VU, go to the IIABA home page at www.iiaba.net, then select “Virtual University” from the menu at the top of the page. Back

  3. From the IIABA home page, you will be taken to this public VU area where you can learn more about the Virtual University. Back

  4. If you know your User Name and Password, enter them in the fields above to enter the members-only section of the VU. If you don’t know your User ID or Password, just send an email to logon@iiaba.net with your agency information and we’ll email it to you. johndoe@cox.com insgenius Back

  5. ...and a newsletter archive. The VU has five main areas… You navigate within each of these sections by using a menu on the left side. If you’ve never used the VU before, be sure to read the “Getting Started” section. Now let’s scroll down the home page to see what else is there… Back

  6. Now let’s take a look at our free bi-weekly email newsletter… The VU home page keeps you up to date on the latest and most popular features and articles on the VU. If you’ve never used the VU before, be sure to read the “Help” section from the menu near the top of the page. Back

  7. This section includes a complete index of all past newsletters. Over 25,000 subscribers can’t be wrong! Continue to see how to subscribe… Back

  8. Now let’s take a quick look at each of the major areas of the VU, starting with the Library. It’s simple to subscribe and unsubscribe…all we need is an email address and basic information and you can always unsubscribe from a link in each newsletter. Back

  9. For example, here is the School of Insurance... The VU Research Library is divided into three sections. Back

  10. For example, here is the Commercial Lines section… The School of Insurance is divided into three major lines of insurance. Back

  11. For example, here is the CGL menu page…. The Commercial Lines area consists of 21 sublines. The more commonly used sublines such as CGL, property, business auto, etc. contain the most content. Back

  12. This is the menu page for CGL articles and white papers on topics from additional insureds to terrorism coverage. For example, here is a recent CGL article… Back

  13. Our database of hundreds of articles covers topics of current interest to agents, many drawn from our “Ask an Expert” service. If a topic discusses ISO policy forms, the form is usually included as a PDF download. If you are looking for articles on a specific topic, rather than using the Library menu system, you might find it easier to use two other VU features… Back

  14. You can use the search field on any page in the VU to search the entire VU web site for a particular topic. Be sure to read the Instructions before using this the first time. Back

  15. The Site Map is essentially a table of contents for the entire VU web site. All content is within two clicks from this page. You access the Site Map from the Help menu above. Back

  16. From the Classrooms section, you can access dozens of online courses, many approved for CE in a number of IIABA states. For example… Back

  17. From the online classroom page of the VU, you can either log in to the VU or create a new account. You can view the course catalog without logging in. Back Back

  18. Probably the most popular feature of the VU is the ability to submit questions to our volunteer faculty which consists of over 50 experts in various subjects. We usually respond within 3-5 business days, if not sooner. Back

  19. To submit a question, you simply fill out the short form on this page and click the Submit button. Your question is routed to our faculty based on the type of question, then a response is emailed to you. Back

  20. Be sure to COMPLETELY fill out all requested information. If your question involves an ISO policy, we MUST have the policy form number and edition date in order to respond. E.g., CP 00 10 10 00. Back

  21. We will be adding bulletin boards and chat rooms in the future. In the meantime, be sure to check out our Surveys & Polls, Incredible Links page (awesome!), and other features. Back
