  3. MIF – Multi-Institutional Functionality What is MIF? What does it mean? • Students can register for courses across the state from their Home institution.

  4. MIF – Multi-Institutional Functionality What is MIF? Why MIF? • It enables students to access courses that they might not otherwise have access to. • Enables the System to fully utilize program resources.

MIF – Multi-Institutional Functionality What is MIF? • Cross Registration • Transparent Transient • “Home” Institution Model • Students have a “Home” and Courses have a “Home” • Students access Registration from “Student’s Home” • Tuition and Fees assessed at “Student’s Home” • Financial Aid awarded at “Student’s Home” • Payment made at “Student’s Home”

MIF – Multi-Institutional Functionality How will MIF Impact GIL? • MIF and Banner do not enforce one “Home” • This problem should be the exception. • Students enrolled at multiple institutions through MIF could have multiple barcodes. • We do not know how Banner will list MIF students. Will they be loaded like regular students into the Patron file?

  13. MIF – Multi-Institutional Functionality How will MIF Impact GIL? • Stub Records and Patron update conflict. • Walk-up Patron – which ID will they present? • Patron blocked with one ID and present the ID that is not blocked.

MIF – Multi-Institutional Functionality • Go to MIF meetings on your Campus. • Start informing the Library staff • MIF is coming • Work with the GIL Express Committee • Ask questions on the UB Listserv as they come up and provide solutions as they are developed • MIF will help the Students • Over time GIL and MIF will evolve as a partnership in the integrated learning environment.
