  2. EDUCATION IN THE EU • More than 2 million young people have taken advantage of EU programmes to pursue their studies and personal development in another country • European educational programmes: Erasmus, Leonardo, Socrates, eTwinning and many others

  3. THE EUROPEAN CULTURAL CONVENTION • ECC sets the context for activities of the EU in education, culture, cultural heritage, research, sport and youth • There are European Youth Centres, Sports Funds and Centre for Modern Languages in the EU

  4. EUROTIP • Is a series of exercises designed to allow physical fitness and includes tests for flexibility, speed endurance and strength. Many European schools use it.

  5. FAIR PLAY • The Convention on spectator violence and misbehaviour at sports events was drawn up after the Heysel stadium disaster in 1985. A standing comittee has produced major efforts to support sports activities in Europe and prevent racist behaviour in sport.

  6. EUROPEAN HERITAGE DAYS • Every year in September over 30 000 museums and other sites fly the EHD flag for one weekend and are opened free • It brings European citizens closer to their cultural heritage and helps them get to know and understand one another better despite their cultural and linguistic differences

  7. The European Union does a lot to support education, culture and sport for its citizens.
