Linking and sharing- Planning and Building Standards Project • Delivery to date: • corporate approach to land and property data including publish once/use many approach e.g. planning constraints data • successful CAG operation for 6 years • standardisation of property data including all spatial and metadata data e.g. CAG and metadata conform to British Standards • business re-engineering to ensure efficient dynamic integration e.g. CAG integration with Planning Portal, PECs, Development Management, Building Standards, Licensing, CEC websites etc

Improving efficiency • business process mapping • extension of use of the CAG including integration with LVJB and other parts of CEC • continual improvement of CAG to provide higher levels of accuracy, improved performance and quicker throughput • finalisation of spatial metadata and public metadata tool • introduction of external CAG-based data access tools ('find my nearest', local facilities, service delivery and other local information)

Modernising Planning • Efficient: up to date development plans to be at the heart of an efficient system that provides certainty for users and local people • Inclusive: local people to be more involved in the decisions that shape the development of their communities • Fit for purpose: with a clear sense of priorities, and to address different issues in different ways • Sustainable: development to contribute to economic growth that is sustainable. Planning will deliver sustainable development ensuring development is in the right place, and of, the right quality

  12. Efficient Neighbour Notification? • Requirement transferred to the Planning Authority • Land which is conterminous with or within 20m of the boundary of the land for which the development is proposed

  13. e-fficient planning applications • E-applications submitted since 2004 = 1735 • E-applications submitted this year to date > 500 (total for 2008 = 472) • % of all applications submitted this year overall = 16% • % in Aug and Sept = 22%

  14. e-applications - benefits • Submission process simpler than ever (no neighbour notification) • Facility available 24/7 – easier to meet deadlines • Not bound by Council office opening hours • Speed in sending to planning authority • Savings in paper, printing, packaging & postage • Automatic allocation to cases – no lost files • Valid submissions reach case officers more quickly • Easy to submit amended information • Monitor progress on-line – agent, applicant, community • Greater efficiencies in validation, processing and case management by the Council
