  3. NOS CIBLES • Primary target group • Effeminate gay • Transvestites • Clandestine LGBT (not attending the place of the community because of the self-stigma) • Secondary target group • Family, health care providers, defense forces and security, religious leaders

  5. II. OUR STRATEGIES • Advocacy, • Prevention and support HIV • Structural interventions, • Environmental change, • Sustainability activities.

Some results CommunityMobilization: • 10 sections installed in Abidjan and suburbs • 6230 new Men who have Sex with Men recorded in prevention activities since July 2011 Advocacy: • Advocating for GAY support in clinical NGO • Advocating for inclusion of Men who have Sex with Men as a priority target in the National Strategic Plan 2010-2015

Specific problems and priorities of LGBT in Côte d'Ivoire -Legal void (Article 360 ​​of the penal Code)-Lack of information about homosexuality (ministries and other national and local authorities)-Problem of capacity building (training techniques advocacy on the link between Human Rights, Homophobia and HIV / AIDS training in documenting cases of violence)

Specific problems and priorities of LGBT in Côte d'Ivoire • Vulnerability of LGBT : • The psychological (self-stigma) • Medical (Some noticeable LGBT do not have access to health care because stigmatisation in the Health Center: from the waiting room between patients and up to the level of staff) • Family (rejection, sidelined and not associated with the events of the family, etc..) • In the world of work / access to work (at a job interview, the effeminate person is discarded, is marginalized, must mask his sexual orientation have to hope the post)

Specific problems and priorities of LGBT in Côte d'Ivoire • Vulnerability of LGBT : • No means of defense in assault case, police abuse, the LGBT is judge already guilty because of his sexual orientation • Abuse of police: Physical violence, arbitrary arrest • Clandestine LGBT: force to lead a double life

Specific problems and priorities of LGBT in Côte d'Ivoire • Stigmatization of gay PLWHA: double stigma because of HIV positive serostatus and sexual orientation, the HIV support is biased because people can not share their sexual orientation for fear of being rejected • Lack of information on their rights by LGBT

How to support and help us? • Help increase the understanding of policy makers on the issue of LGBT • Encourage decision makers to more involvement with LGBT communities to address social determinants of health • Institutionally support advocacy for the establishment of a legal framework to protect LGBT people from abuse and violation in connection with homophobia

  12. How to support and help us? • Support actions that address other aspects of LGBT issues except HIV (law labor law, health, safety, etc.). • Supporting actions on changing the social and physical environment that destroy health
