  4. Family Life • Married Abigail Smith • Had 5 children: Susannah, John Quincy, Abigail, Charles and Thomas • Their child Susannah sadly died when she was first born

  5. Election • Vice President: Thomas Jefferson • in 1776 john ran against Thomas Jefferson • Adams had 3 more votes than Jefferson • Adams took office on March, 4 1797

  6. Interesting Facts • John’s son, John Quincy Adams, was president • John had trouble with Jefferson. • They were against France in war but Jefferson wanted to help France. • John and his kids were the first family to live in the White House.
