Our accreditations / Awards 2011 • MSC - The International Standard of wild fish management - Across all sites • 2011 Green Gown Award - Sustainable Procurement Category winner for the second year (Leading the Way in Sustainable Food Procurement) • Good Egg Award Compassion in World Farming presented a Good Egg award to Durham University for their efforts and leadership in improving the welfare of farm animals.  • Public Sector Sustainability Awards 2011 - ‘Most Sustainable Public Sector Project Innovation Award’ finalist • Green tourist award

  4. Over 5400 litres of waste oil collected & recycled each year Our environment 42000 Kilos reduction in CO2 in 1 years Orchard planted to provide free fruit and also offset carbon deliveries

An increase in Provenance , named farms for Dairy , meats and Vegetables Our products University Catering is committed to ppurchase products with recognised labelling schemes such as FSC, MSC or EU Eco label, where appropriate Average saturated fat reductions achieved of 20% in Burgers, 40% in Muffins and 30% in Quiches

  7. Our communities local and national charities supported In order to bring all of our environmental initiatives and activities together, the name and concept of 'Greenspace' has been devised Greenspace will coordinate environmental initiatives across the University

Extending our oil recycling scheme Reduce grid electricity use by 10% over the next 2 years Reduce mains water consumption by 5% in 2 years Promote the use of Fairtrade where appropriate Develop our Health and wellbeing support Eliminate waste sent to landfill by 2015 Extend activities that support our communities
