  • INTRODUCTION

    • Who we are

  • AVT234© A-GAS SYSTEM

    • Adapt existing AVT

    • How it Works

  • FUTURE CAPABILITIES

Introduction l.jpg
Introduction

  • 2003 – Collaborate with University of Rochester and RIT scientists

    • Automatic video change detection and tracking algorithms commercialized and equipment developed for perimeter security.

  • 2005 – Contract with Air Force to produce video analytics product (AVT234©) for perimeter security.

  • 2007 - Deliver AVT234© perimeter security product to;

    • U.S. Military

    • Large systems integrators

  • 2008 – Deliver AVT234© product to regional/international energy company & adapt AVT234 © for damage prevention

    • work with RG&E, NYSEG, and NGA/NYSEARCH.

Adapt avt234 with nga nysearch l.jpg
ADAPT AVT234© with NGA/NYSEARCH

  • Adapt existing technology to evaluate suitability to detect TP threats to pipelines

    • Collected test video at job sites to begin to characterize settings in PLE lab

    • Determined critical Third Party equipment types to be considered for urban, rural gas pipeline ROW’s

    • Assigned level of risk to equipment types by probability

    • Ran live scenarios at RG&E Scottsville Rd. Facility to test real-world operation ignoring benign activity and alarming on threatening events

    • Developed new filters, algorithms to accomplish this

Collected test video at job sites l.jpg
Collected test video at job sites

  • To record DVD sample videos, worked with various RG&E subcontractors to collect baseline equipment and human digging videos at active job sites.

  • Ran analysis and evaluation tests using A_GAS test suite in PLE video lab to tailor current configuration of AVT234 and to adapt software to only alarm on digging events in video

Typical test video with equipment alarming

Test Protocol

  • Tests scenarios considered:

    • Backhoe drive-by

    • Backhoe drive-by & setup

    • Barracades and cones

    • Backhoe operation – back, front & side views

    • Truck w/ air compresser setup – Not Done

    • Truck park & setup – Not Done

    • Tamper operation – simulated using shovel

    • Auger drill operation – simulated using shovel

    • Shovel operation – typical digging motion

Future capabilities l.jpg
Future Capabilities

  • Remote Connectivity using wireless connection to email, cell-phone, PDA

    • Develop software communication layer to connect A-GAS to wireless networks to provide alarms via email, cell-phone, PDA

  • Smaller hardware for A-GAS

    • Reduce A-GAS hardware size for remote use and reduce power requirements

    • Port A-GAS software to small hardware

  • Improve analytics to;

    • Monitor height of objects to improve detection of digging

    • Detect colors to increase sensitivity of detections
