  1. Learning Objectives Tuesday, 9/24/2013 By today, you will be able to build molecules by matching atoms that when combined will result in a full outer shell of electrons (octet rule).

  2. Vocabulary Tuesday, 9/24/2013 Compound Valence electrons Ionic bond Covalent bond Molecule Van der Waals force

  3. Classwork Tuesday, 9/24/2013 We will do an interactive game together as a class. Afterward, you will draw a model of an atom that I assign to you.

  4. Directions for your model of an atom Tuesday, 9/24/2013 Use a pencil. Put your name, date and period on the back of the paper. Draw a rough sketch in your notebook. Carefully draw your atom. Show the number of protons and neutrons in the nucleus. Only draw the valence electrons.

  5. Directions for your model of an atom Tuesday, 9/24/2013 Indicate the number of protons, neutrons and total number of electrons in the atom. Color your model. Make it look attractive.

  6. Homework Tuesday, 9/24/2013 P. 39: 2,6 Remember: write the question in cursive and ink; skip a line; answer the question; underline your answer; skip a line for the next question.
