BLLU: Accomplishments to Date • Outlined Goals and Objectives • Coastal Training Program: pre-evaluation complete • Contacts: 2 Developer focus groups, plus followup • Contacts: ongoing discussion with watershed/stormwater experts: CRWP, ODNR, engineering consultants, USEPA, OEPA • Awareness session presentation development and 4 sessions Fall ’06: Ashtabula, Lorain, Toledo, Columbus • Ongoing background research on example projects, recommendations for built areas and northwestern Ohio • Outlined and in the midst of technical session development • Worked with OLEC on program promotion/marketing

BLLUP: Next Steps • Complete technical presentation • Ongoing background research • 4 Technical Presentations scheduled in January, plus 4-6 more slated for March • Advisory Group to meet/review in February • Technical Assistance design, competition, marketing • Technical Assistance implementation May/June

Technical Session Agenda • Overview of Balanced Growth Program and Best Local Land Use Practices • Focus on Stormwater: regulations, practices, recommendations, issues, LID • Development regulations: Comprehensive Planning, Compact Development, Conservation Development • Protective Regulations: Riparian/Wetland Setbacks, Stormwater Protection, Meadow Protection, Woodland/Steep Slope Protection

  6. Technical Assistance Summary • Assistance to be provided to 8-10 communities • Letter of interest will be required • Selection to provide a range of built/greenfields, geographic area, issues • 8-12 hours provided per community

  7. Possibilities for Technical Assistance • Review of existing regulations, make recommendations • Public education session • Consultation on specific development project • Draft code language? • Possibility of charette on specific development project?
