He is also the co founder and former Group CEO of Genovate Pte Ltd which under his stewardship operated in 17 cities and 6 countries in Asia Pacific and won several awards including the Enterprise 50 award for 2 consecutive years in 2005 and 2006 where it was ranked as the fastest growing software company in Singapore. He holds a B.Sc (US), an MBA (US) and a Doctoral degree in IT Management from the University of South Australia (UniSA), which he earned after he was awarded the International Information Technology Management Merit Scholarship to pursue this at UniSA. He is a fellow of the British Computer Society, fellow of Singapore Computer Society, and a Chartered Engineer (UK). He is currently the President of the Cloud Computing Chapter (SCS) and has been the Vice Chair (IT & Technology) of Electric, Electronics & Allied Industries (SMF). He was a former member of the National Internet Advisory Committee (NIAC). He is a member of the Talent Advisory Panel (TAP) for the People’s Association (PA) of Singapore. In the industry, he worked in technical and management capacities including IBM, Computer Associates, Sun Microsystems as well as Singalab (a former JV between National Computer Board of Singapore and IBM). At Sun Microsystems he won the President’s Club award for out-standing performance amongst other awards. As a Technopreneur, he won several awards including the top Singapore entrepreneur award for two consecutive years in 2005 & FY2006. He was also the overall winner of the Singapore Indian Entrepreneur of the Year Award (SIEA) for the large enterprise category in 2006. He sits on several professional committees and is also an Advisor to DBS Business Class, Mentor at FundedHere, amongst others. Venky Shankararaman, Professor of Information Systems (Education) & Deputy Dean (Practice & Education), School of Information Systems, Singapore Management University Venky Shankararaman is a Professor of Information Systems (Education) and Deputy Dean (Practice & Education) at the School of Information Systems, Singapore Management University. He holds a PhD in Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK. His current areas of specialization include digital business technologies (e.g. analytics, cloud, AI, IoT) and transformation, enterprise systems and integration, and education pedagogy. He has over 25 years of experience in the IT industry in various capacities as a researcher, academic faculty member, IT professional and industry consultant. Venky has designed and delivered professional courses for government and industry in areas such as digital business, business process management and analytics, enterprise architecture, technical architecture, and enterprise integration. He has published over 75 papers in academic journals and conferences. Venky is a Senior member of the Singapore Computer Society (SCS) and an executive committee member of the SCS Cloud Computing Chapter.
