### Section 6.2

Multiplying and Dividing Rational Expressions

• Multiply: 4 · 25 Divide: 20 ÷ 15 5 32 21 7

We use the same concepts with rational expressions, but we have to FACTOR!

• 1. Factor everything in the numerators and the denominators.

• 2. Divide out (cancel) any common factors.

• 3. Multiply across with what remains.

• Just multiply the first fraction by the reciprocal of the 2nd fraction.
