  2. XINFO XINFO 3.3 is available since April 2008. Besides many internal improvements it will have following new functions: • PC Client • Admin - Installation • TWS Scanner • CA7 Scanner • JCL Scanner • Source and Load Module Scanner • DB2 Scanner • SMF Scanner • Miscellaneous • What’s coming next

  3. PC Client The new PC Client (Build 181) will be shipped with XINFO 3.3. Please note that the functions described below are also available with older XINFO server programs, as long as actual fixes are used. • Ready for Vista • Ready for Linux • “Firewall friendly” IP Communication • BIF - New statements to generate “complex” reports • SQL - New dialog allows to specify any kind of SQL

  4. Microsoft Vista HORIZONT has enabled all of it’s Windows programs to run under Vista. To avoid IP problems, we recommend to install PC Client fixes newer than 2007-04-01 XINFO PC Client and Vista

  5. Linux The new PC Client runs fine under Linux and Wine (Wine Is Not an Emulator…)see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wine_%28software%29 XINFO PC Client and Linux

  6. New IP Communication OLD NEW ROTJSHD TP Program ROTJSHD ROTJSHD TP Program Port 1 Port 1 Port 1 Port 2 z/OS program uses the original “line” to send data to the client. That avoids firewall problems PC Client PC Client

  7. PC Client – New BIF Statements New BIF statements like ARRANGE, IF, SCAN and GOTO are available now. This allows you to create complex reports and documents

  8. PC Client – Complex Reports This HTML document was created by the PC client using the new BIF statements. It includes related data from several tables and various graphics.

  9. PC Client – Free SQL Every kind of SQL can be used now. The needed “display” is generated dynamically by the server program. Please note that this feature is also available in BIF

XINFO x.x – What’s coming next Following functions and features are still on our “to do” list and will be developed sooner or later: • CA-Disk (SAMS) Scanner • Java Scanner • Easier installation, especially for additional scanners • Requires significant changes in internal structures, e.g. TGN Parm • XINFO DS • Improved Inventory Scanner • Improved Process Scanner

  34. XINFO x.x - Postponed Following functions and features are postponed. That means that we have stopped (or at least postponed) further development activities. • File Transfer Scanner • Too many different solutions are on the market (Connect Direct, Universal Command, FTP etc.) • RACF Implementation • IBM offers many standard programs. New XINFO Administrator Manual has a section that explains how to integrate these standard programs • Security concerns • XINFO DS Script Scanner • No real need (means customer do not ask for it) • A 100% solution like JUPIPO is not possible • The DS File Contents is a good alternative, comparable to PO Scanner.
