Who are you? • Campus Security Authority • Campus Police • Individuals responsible for security • Institutional Security Officers • Student Security Officers • Residence Directors • Resident Assistants • Individuals or Offices designated to receive crime reports • Officials with significant responsibility for student and campus activities. • Athletic Director/Coaches • Faculty/Staff club advisors BOTH club and non club. • Human Resources (Director and Assistant Director)

  3. Responsibility • Campus Security Authority’s primary responsibility is: • To report allegations made in good faith to the reporting structure established by the institution. • Report to who: • Campus Police • Dean of Students • Director of Judicial Affairs • Director of Human Resources

  4. Why report • Obligation under the Clery Act as a Campus Security Authority to do so • May be held liable for failure to notify, especially if acts occur in the future that may have been preventable. Fine can be $27, 500 per violation per day. • Make the campus and it’s community safer. • Because it is the RIGHT THING TO DO!! • College can lose ability to participate in Federal Student Aid programs.

  5. How to report • Call the Campus Police, Dean of Students, Director of Judicial Affairs or Director of Human Resources • Notification may be made via email, phone or written communication. • May use an anonymous reporting form. Forms located at Campus Police Station, Athletics Office, Dean of Students Office, Judicial Affairs, Residence Hall Directors Office, main office of Residential Life, Health Services, Human Resources and Counseling Center

  6. Scenario 1 • While speaking with the Captain of a team, the coach learns that two of his players had sexually assaulted a female student over the weekend. • Report it? If so to whom? If so how?

  7. Scenario 2 • While assisting with a campus club, the advisor learns that one of the members of the club has been stealing lap top computers out of dorm rooms. • Report it? If so to whom

  8. Scenario 3 • While speaking with team members the coach learns that members of the team have knowledge of a fight on campus by other team members that resulted in a student going to the hospital with major injuries three weeks ago. • Report it? If so to whom?

  9. Scenario 4 • While holding a staff meeting a Residence Hall Director becomes aware of a robbery that occurred in another Residential Hall two weeks ago. • Report it? If so to whom?

I understand that under the Clery Act I, an Assistant Coach at Westfield State University am considered a Campus Security Authority. I understand that as a Campus Security Authority I have a responsibility to report a variety of crimes and incidents that come to my attention. I understand that I am legally obligated under the Clery Act to do so and that a failure to report may result in consequences for both myself and the University. I understand that I may report these crimes or incidents by utilizing the Anonymous Report Crime Form located in the Athletics Director’s Office. I understand that I may also report any crime or incident directly to the University Police, Dean of Student Affairs or the Director of Student Conduct. I have been made aware that should I have any questions regarding the material I have reviewed I can contact Captain Casciano or Lt. Foyle of the Westfield State University Police Department for clarification. This form must be returned to Captain Casciano or Lt.
