  5. Before JORUM

  6. Reuse and Repurpose • Saving Time • Moving from Paper Resources • Multiple Copies appeared

  7. Towards JORUM • Central area for resources • Materials uploaded from day one thanks to JISC projects • Clear copyright statement within the institution • Materials produced by other institutions means that there is a good level of relevance • Great support from Jorum support for initial use • Institutions became encouraged to clarify ownership of materials and  sharing beyond their own institution.

  8. Barriers • Technophobia • Time • Perceived Senior Management Support • Ownership

  9. Supporting and Enabling • “Small steps for quick wins” (Shrewsbury College of Arts and Technology 2005) • “Just in time” Support • Beyond the 2P’s

  10. Understanding Benefits • Centralised store of suitable learning materials • Clear copyright rules for reuse/ repurpose • Promoting sharing of resources and best practice • Encouraged creativity

  11. Issues • Login is still difficult • Browsing different libraries confusing, and slow • Searching difficult • Low awareness of it as a tool • No sense of community

  12. Focusing on Success • Everyone is in the same boat • Don’t hide the problems • Disseminate to senior staff
