  1. The Sport of Horseback Riding • Horses are wonderful creatures • Riding is rewarding • There are levels of riding: pleasure, competitive, show • Styles of riding are English and Western

  2. English riding also has classes: Dressage, Show Jumping, Hunt and Foxhunting. Dressage is like a ballet with horses and requires much skill and patience. Show jumping is fun and exciting for the rider as well as the horse. Foxhunting requires endurance and stamina, but is quite an experience. English Riding has categories: Dressage, jumping, and hunt class. Dressage is like a ballet with horses and requires great skill and discipline. Jumping is exciting for the rider and the horse as well. Foxhunting requires endurance and stamina.

  3. The Sport of Horseback Riding • Horseback Riding involves horsemanship, the ability to know horses, their temperaments, and how to care for them. • Not all horses are created equal!

  4. The Sport of Horseback Riding • Horses are used for therapeutic purposes for the handicapped and physically challenged. • Owning a horse requires commitment and dedication. They are not like house pets.

  5. The Sport of Horseback Riding • Personally, I am currently being schooled in jumping. It is rewarding to learn a new level of riding and progress as you actually learn how to flow as one with the horse. • The horse seems to understand and responds with cooperation and seems to enjoy the workout as well!
