SCAR/COMNAP Joint Committee on Antarctic Data Management • JCADM has started mobilizing: • International Oceanographic Data and Information Exchange Committee (IODE) • 66 NODCs • RNODC for the Southern Ocean • WDC system • AMD, EDMED, MEDI - Discovery metadata directories • Large research programmes: • WOCE • JGOFS-SO • ARGO

SCAR/COMNAP Joint Committee on Antarctic Data Management • Many Southern Ocean datasets are not in this system • Formal approach • Remind nations/NODCs about the obligations following the Antarctic Treaty, Article III-1c • Realistic approach: • Involve the superiors of the scientists and data managers • Partnership for Observing the Global Ocean (POGO) = directors of all larger oceanographic institutes in the world
