  2. 18.4.1 • Sketch the general shapes of graphs of pH against volume for titrations involving strong and weak acids and bases, and explain their important features.

  3. Strong Base and Strong Acid Titration • 25 cm3 of 0.1 M HCl titrated by 0.1 M NaOH • 25 cm3 of 0.1 M NaOH titrated by 0.1 M HCl

  4. Important Features • Equivalence Point: the point where there are exactly the same number of moles of acid and base. • Equivalence point ≠ pH 7 • Buffer region: the region where there is little change to the pH in the solution that is being titrated • pKa = pH or pKb = pOH happens in the middle of the buffer region.
