TERMINOLOGY • Teacher’s Aides and Teaching Assistants are both categorized as “Supplementary School Personnel” under Part 200 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education. • Currently, the district employs: -approximately 30 classroom teacher’s aides (paraprofessionals) -0 Teaching Assistants

  4. Why Teaching Assistants? Because they can provide: • Direct instruction of students at classroom centers/in small groups • Instruction under general supervision of classroom teacher • Improved instructional effectiveness of multi-leveled classroom (i.e. K-2 Special Class, Grades 3-5 Special Class, Life Skills Class)
