Steering Committee • Establishes “game plan” for proposal development • Coordination and Oversight of other committees • Responsible for disseminating information to other committees and stakeholders including President Caldera • Responsible for background and general information of proposal (5 pages) • Responsible for Hosting 10/10/03 Visit by Kauffman Foundation UNM – Kauffman Grant Project

Instruction Team • Develops course/workshop syllabi • Coordinates curriculum with Center for Entrepreneurial Studies • Develops web-based exemplary course • Establishes project plan for initiating curriculum, including expense plan • Benchmarks coursework from other schools – Stanford, Iowa State, Syracuse,etc. • Responsible for Coursework section of proposal (6 pages) UNM – Kauffman Grant Project

  4. Incubator Team • Develops UNM Incubator business plan • Coordinates Seed Funding Plan for Incubator investments • Establishes linkages to OVPR, STC, HSC and SOE and other schools with IP generators • Responsible for Incubator/Services section of proposal (6 pages) UNM – Kauffman Grant Project

  5. Finance Team • Develops strategic plan for $15M funding • Identifies and contacts government agencies and private foundations for possible contribution commitments • Coordinates visits with potential partners by UNM Provost, President, or other cabinet officers in making appeal for contribution. • Responsible for Fund Raising section of proposal (3 pages) UNM – Kauffman Grant Project

Project Schedule • 26 August - Kickoff Meeting - MTTC - • 10 September - Reports to Steering Comm • 24 September - Reports to Steering Comm (Meeting) (11AM Roberts Room) • 8 October - Reports to Steering Comm • 10 October - Visit by Kauffman Foundation • 22 October - Reports to Steering Comm (9AM Room 226 Scholes Hall Meeting & First Draft of Proposal Due) • 5 November - Reports to Steering Committee • 12 November - SC Meeting 2PM Roberts Room & Final Draft of Proposal Due) • 19 November - SC Meeting 9AM Roberts Room & Final Changes to Proposal - Signoff • 21 November - Proposal Submitted to Kauffman Foundation • 26 November - SC Meeting 11AM Roberts Room & First Draft of Presentation Due • 3 December - SC Meeting 9AM Room 226 & Rehearsal of Presentation Due UNM – Kauffman Grant Project

Kauffman Foundation Grant Guidelines • ·How will you make entrepreneurship a common and accessible experience for all students; including your vision for creating “leaps” in how entrepreneurship is currently offered at your institution, over and above what your current program offers. Please include your implementation strategy over a 3-5 year time frame. • ·How will faculty be engaged, across campus, to assure a comprehensive and well-orchestrated initiative; including possible incentives for faculty involvement. • ·How will you measure your success; including program outcomes and individuals responsible for program assessment as well as possible ways of sharing your experience with others in the field. • ·What is your sustainable financial plan; including financial support, leverage of Kauffman support and opportunities to secure “new” sources for funding. Approaches to Coursework • Separate Courses and Programs in Entrepreneurship • Integrate Entrepreneurship material into Existing Courses • Require a course in entrepreneurship for Freshmen (MGT113 – like course) • Offer an entrepreneurship course as option in UNM Core Curriculum • Offer an “entrepreneurship” track in every college or school UNM – Kauffman Grant Project
