  1. Article 24 • Do you remember slavery? Traders from powerful western countries who used to buy men and women from weaker countries and ship them back home. A nasty inhumane and exploitive practice that was outlawed by all civilized countries “decades ago”.......? • Article 34 of the Convention of the Human rights says, governments will prevent, "... the exploitive use of children in prostitution or other unlawful sexual practices“.

  2. "I had been sold to a brothel owner" • Salma, from India married when she was only 10 years old. Within a year of her marriage, she was raped by her father-in-law and, then, she ran away 500 km from her village to Bombay. • When she got there, she was tricked by a pimp, thinking he would help her: he drugged her and he sold her to a madam running a brothel in Bombay. She was kept in captivity and was forced to have sex with different men. Recently, she discovered that she had AIDS.

  3. Article 29 • Article 29 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child recognises that, governments should direct a child's education towards "respect for... his or her cultural identity, language and values, for the national values of the country in which the child is living..."
