  3. Early Life • Born on May 5, 1998 • Lived in North London and Great Britain • Raised by a single mother • Massive extended family support

  4. Early Influences: • Adele admired many popular UK artists, including: --Spice Girls --Gabrielle --Destiny’s Child --Pink

  5. SCHOOLING: • Adele attended the BRIT School • Graduated in May 2006 • Friend of Adele’s posted a video of Adele on Myspace Result: Contract with XL Recordings

  6. Adele’s Debut • Debut single: Hometown Glory • Debut album:19(released in 2008) • Chasing Pavements • Later… • Second album: 21 (2011) • Rolling in the Deep • Someone Like You

  7. A journey to the U.S.A. • Signed with Columbia Records • Her Setback: Adele cancelled many tour dates in the U.S. Became an alcoholic Boyfriend’s negative influence • Performance on SNL saved U.S. career

  8. The Overcomer • Adele developed vocal cord hemorrhage • Underwent surgery in 2012 • A positive role model:  Proudly “rocks” the size 14/16 pants and outfits
