  3. Your child • Scored in the 90th percentile on ISAT in Spring 2013 • Scored in the 85th percentile on MAP Fall Reading and/or Math Scores

  4. What is NUMATS? • Part of the Center for Talent Development at Northwestern University • Offers weekend sessions, on-line courses and summer camps for gifted and potentially gifted students • Provides enrichment services above and beyond the school setting

  5. College Entrance Exams Qualifying for NUMATS programs • NUMATS provides the opportunity to take the college entrance exams BEFORE grade level • typically Spring of junior year in high school

  6. What are college entrance exams? Nationally recognized achievement tests designed to assess college-readiness • ACT • Curriculum and standards-based educational tool • Math, Reading, Science, English (grammar) • SAT • Skills based and application of skills • Reading, Writing and Math

  7. Why the college entrance exam? • Gifted and potentially gifted students often hit the “ceiling” on grade-level standardized tests • Grade level tests are not able to measure the full extent of your child’s ability • Your child requires a more challenging test • Your child requires a comparison to other gifted and potentially gifted students

  9. Test Taking Information 1) Register at: www.ctd.northwestern.edu/numats/register 2) Select test: ACT or SAT 3) Test Dates: • SAT May 3 Oak Park/River Forest HS • ACT April 12 Fenwick High School April 12 Oak Park/River Forest HS June 14 Elmwood Park High School

  10. Fees • SAT (without writing) $51.00 • ACT (without writing) $36.50 Fee waiver for test is available if you receive free lunch – contact Main Office for necessary letter

  11. Deadline • February 7, 2014 – SAT • March 1, 2014 – ACT
