  4. Regular High School Diploma • This diploma requires twenty two credits • Six of these must be verified by SOL’s

  5. Advanced Studies Diploma • 24 credits • 9 credits verified by SOL’s

  6. What Is a Credit? A credit is earned for every course successfully completed. 1/2 credit is earned for a one semester course

  7. What Is a Verified Credit? A verified credit is earned by achieving a passing score on the state Standards of Learning Assessment (SOL)

  8. Requirements for Regular Diploma • English 4 units 2 verified • Mathematics 3 units 1 verified • Laboratory Science 3 units 1 verified • History and Social Studies 3 units verified • Health and P. E. 2 units • Fine or Practical Arts 1 unit • Electives 6 • Student Selected Test 1

Requirements for the Advanced Studies Diploma English 4 Units -2 Verified Mathematics 4 Units -2 Verified Social Studies 4 Units -2 Verified Laboratory Science 4 Units -2 Verified Health and Physical Education 2 Units Foreign Language 3 Units Fine or Practical Art 1 Unit Electives 2 Units One additional student selected test-Verified

Algebra Courses • Algebra I A/ Algebra I B grade level (435) • 1 math credit (algebra) • Algebra I A and lab & Algebra I B and lab (2 period course) 1 math credit (algebra) and 1 elective credit (413) • Algebra 1 A/B with lab in the 9th grade ( 2 period course ) Algebra 1 C/D with lab in the 10th grade ( 2 period course); Upon successful completion of both courses, student will have completed the Algebra 1 curriculum and will take their Algebra SOL giving the student • 2 math credits and 2 elective credits (411) SOL in Algebra is required for all diplomas

  20. Class Rank Class rank is computed on a 4 point scale with an ‘A’ counting 4 points Honors and Pre-IB classes are weighted .5. An ‘A’ in an Honors or Pre-IB Class counts 4.5 IB and AP classes are weighted 1.0. An ‘A’ in an IB or AP class counts 5.
