  • what can I bring to the table

    • use your lab as a model of (1)  a more diverse C-MORE and (2) place-based research with cultural connections (Heeia).  Explain why you think you were successful in attracting your lab members, and how you're using your KSI and NPN connections to establish a pipeline.  Consider interviewing your lab members and people who will help you recruit future lab members (Miss Ish) vs random people.

  • Diversity goals: increase the number of underrepresented minorities, particularly Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders (NHPI)

    • in all levels of Center research and educational programs

    • pursuing careers in ocean and earth sciences and related disciplines

    • stems from the unique opportunity (only STC) headquartered in Hawaii, to entrain students into STEM workforce
