  2. The Power of Persuasion • Directions: Choose a topic from the current PowerPoint. Begin to research and prepare for our upcoming debate. Be prepared to state your claim with supporting details. • BYOT= Bring Your Own Technology to class for research and planning

  3. Debate Topics • Zoos do more good than harm. • Violent video games should be banned! • Abolish the death penalty in the United States. • Schools should punish students for online bullying. • Junior high and high schools should randomly test their athletes for drug use.

Debate Topics • Middle schools should adopt a zero tolerance policy. • Violent criminals should not get parole. • Cigarettes should be illegal. • Fast food restaurants do more harm than good. • Fried foods should have warning labels. • Middle schools should require sensitivity training for all students.

Debate Topics • Hosting the Olympic Games does more harm than good for host cities. • Ecotourism does more harm than good. • Schools should not be able to randomly test students who participate in extra-curricular activities/sports for illegal drugs/steroids. • Letter grades do more harm than good.
